About Us
Mount Olive Affordable Housing and Community Development Corporation was recognized as a 501-(c) (3) organization in March of 1994. The Mount Olive Board of Directors is comprised of lifelong residents and business people with very strong community ties, diversified and related expertise, and professional backgrounds. The organization has extensive experience in community outreach and public awareness in its current program areas of economic development (Micro Enterprise Development Program), Affordable Housing, anti-tobacco, job readiness and workplace readiness, literacy (adult basic education and GED), youth drug abuse and crime prevention and intervention. Additionally, the organization has worked collaboratively with the Diabetes and You project and other Department of Health Closing the Health Gap programs. They are unique in that they possess a lifetime economic and social commitment to the Community.
The structure of their board is consistent with the concept of Community-Wide Synergistic Neighborhood Partnership and Front Porch Florida Community Initiative. These concepts combine community driven processes with collaborative approaches that empower residents to develop resident driven problem solving initiatives. Their mission is to raise the health standards, economic, educational and social levels of the residents of the community who are substantially unemployed, under employed, or whose income is below federal poverty guidelines, to foster and promote community wide interest and concern for the problems of the residents. Including expanding educational and economic opportunities, reducing sickness, poverty, crime and environmental degradation. Also, striving for the elimination of racial tensions, prejudice, and discrimination, economic and otherwise.
